I enjoy the creativity and problem solving entailed in the field of engineering, and expect that if I'm going to spend 8+ hours a day working, those aspects must be present in the day-to-day. Working alone is great for focus, but one also needs to bounce ideas off of a team periodically in order for those ideas to mature. I am adamant that work that I do should be easy for others following me to pick up and understand - and that it should also be clean and correct. I am always looking for new tools to assist me in improving the quality of my work, and to assist in reducing the amount of energy it takes to maintain software that I have produced - via unit- and block- testing frameworks, self-tests in running modules, auto-generation of software and documentation, etc.
