Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. Our operations are divided into four businesses: Upstream International, Upstream Americas, Downstream, and Projects & Technology. Our Upstream businesses explore for and produce natural gas, crude oil and natural gas liquids by developing onshore and offshore fields. This also includes the extraction of bitumen from mined oil sands which is converted to synthetic crude oil, the liquefaction of natural gas by cooling it and transporting it to customers around the world, and the conversion of natural gas to liquids (GTL).They also operate the infrastructure necessary to deliver oil and gas to market, and market and trade crude oil and natural gas (including LNG) in support of the Upstream business. Downstream manufactures oil products, biofuels and chemicals, which are then distributed and sold. It also trades Shell’s hydrocarbons and other energy-related products, and manages our fleet of natural gas carriers and oil tankers. Projects & Technology works across Downstream and Upstream, driving research and innovation to create technology solutions for finding and developing oil and gas. It manages our oil and gas projects and is the engine through which Shell creates value for the future.
