Gunilla Borglin is a Professor of Nursing at the department of Health Sciences Karlstad University, Sweden and at Lovisenberg Diaconal University College Oslo, Norway. She is also the Editor in Chief for the journal Nordic Journal of Nursing Research. Since arriving back to Sweden after post-doc time abroad she has, besides focusing on her topic of research (older people, quality of life, health complaints and essentials of care), worked on building a solid experience and knowledgebase in research designs. Simultaneously she has worked hard on engaging in the current methodological development in nursing science particularly mixed methods and the implementation of sound research findings in clinical practice. For the last two years on of her main interest has been on gaining more knowledge about nursing in relation to essentials of care and the challenge of rationed, missed or failed care.
