Umbreen QureshiService Manager Technical Support, London Borough of Tower Hamlets
Umbreen Qureshi began her career in Local Authority over 27 years ago moving across service areas until 2009, when she moved into Planning and trained as a Planner, now a chartered Planner.
Work on service improvements with new technologies led to a move into her current role as Technical Support Service Manager for Planning and Building Control at L B Tower Hamlets
Her interest in new technologies, has recently allowed her to do an academic piece of research in Digital Planning looking at how public sector planning services move from documents to data. This included a review of current PlanTech initiatives, and input on the joint RTPI and Connected Places Catapult, recently launched, digital vision. Her research also identified a number of barriers to digitalisation and a need to look at the future skills of planners.
She is also currently chair of All London Borough Planning Officers Society (Technical Support) (ALBPO) group.
