Philip Hammond
Managing Director, LABCPhil is a public affairs professional who joined LABC from industry 12 years ago having worked in other regulated areas in financial services, the food industries, oil and gas production. As Managing Director, Phil is responsible for LABC’s business strategy, marketing and relationships with member associates, service users and industry partners. Working with LABC Chief Executive, Lorna Stimpson, Phil drives the delivery of LABC’s public affairs programme, commissioning research and organising political advocacy campaigns. Working with other organisations, including the Local Government Association, professional institutions and trade bodies, Phil ensures a strong public service case is made, backed by qualitative and quantitative research. This has included research on compliance interventions and their social value to society. In addition, Phil works with LABC’s executive team preparing policy briefings and consultation responses ensuring that the views of local authority building control surveyors, together with service users in the building industry, see their views adequately reflected in policies, regulations and building standards.
