Janice Morphet

Janice Morphet is a Visiting Professor in the Bartlett School of Planning at University College London and is a CABE Built Environment Expert. Janice was on the Planning Committee of the London 2012 Olympic Games. She was a Senior Adviser on local government at DCLG 2000-2005, having been Chief Executive of Rutland CC, Director of Technical Services at Woking, and Professorial Head of the School of Planning and Landscape at Birmingham Polytechnic. Janice has been a trustee of the RTPI and TCPA.
Janice’s recent books are Modern Local Government (2008) and Effective Practice in Spatial Planning (2010) How Europe Shapes British Public Policy (2013), Applying leadership and management in planning: theory and practice (2015), Infrastructure delivery planning: an effective practice approach (2016) and Beyond Brexit (2017). Her latest book Changing Contexts in Spatial Planning was published in December 2018. Her recent research with Dr Ben Clifford includes 2 projects on NSIP flexibility and delivery for NIPA and 2 projects on Local Authority Direct Provision of Housing, the first funded by the National Planning Forum and the RTPI published in December 2017 and the second funded by GL Hearn and the RTPI published in July 2019.
