Brian Mikkelsen was appointed minister of business in November 2016.

He has held the ministerial office in three other areas since 2001, where he was choosen to be Minister for culture. He has held the position as chairman and vice chairman of the conservative parliamentary group for several years until 2015.

He holds a MSc in political science from Copenhagen University and has worked as an economist for the Independent Businessmen's Unemployment Insurance Fund (ASE). He has CO-authored a number of books and been editor on several others.
