The maritime sector is undergoing a digital revolution, where several technologies are expected to disrupt processes and systems in order to achieve higher efficiency, reduce environmental impact and increase economic profits. Autonomous systems’ technologies will be core elements of this transformation of the maritime sector, both on the ship and terminal sides. However, multiple barriers may prevent the full actualization of the autonomous waterborne transport. The session will gauge the technological and regulatory aspects on the state of development of autonomy for the maritime sector, and will provide prominent views on autonomous waterborne transport by industrial leaders.
