• Aslak Johansen

Associate Professor, University of Southern Denmark

    Bio:
Aslak has a background in computer science. His research includes frameworks for programming wireless sensor networks, and methods for modeling of metadata for IoT timeseries data. He is a co-founder of the Brick group that has established a leading ontology for describing data for buildings. Recent work focuses on software-defined metadata for IoT systems.

    Title of presentation:
Representing and Interacting with Streaming IoT Data

    Abstract of presentation:
Timeseries data make little sense if they cannot be understood in their context. Dealing with a large number of streams of IoT data require a well-structured representation of the context, and an efficient interface to enable powerful applications. This presentation will explore interfaces designed for both human and machine consumption of live and historical IoT data.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that has been developing throughout the last two decades, but in the recent years it gained a significant momentum through its presence in 3GPP standards, such as NB-IoT, for wireless mobile networks. Mobile operators rely on IoT as an enabler of the next generation business models. Currently, an emerging technology that receives a significant attention is IoT through LEO satellites, as it promises to bring seamless and affordable connectivity over wide area for maritime, logistics, agriculture, and other industries. As a specific area of application the smart city use cases will be highlighted.
