• Jakob Andreas Bærentzen

    Associate Professor, DTU

Bio: Andreas Bærentzen is an associate professor at the Technical University of Denmark. His research area is computer graphics with emphasis on the digital representation of 3D shapes and the many applications of digital geometry such as interactive modelling, procedural synthesis, optimization of structures, and simulation. His research has also dealt with geometry processing, for instance reconstruction and smoothing of acquired geometry. Finally, he is interested in several aspects of real-time graphics, including the intersection of geometry and appearance and the use of real-time graphics in virtual reality or mixed experiences.

What do an increasing number of university researchers and technology-driven companies have in common? An interest in using VR and AR to simulate new realities, add information to the world, create engaging experiences and do research that would be impossible or very costly in the real world. At this session, we present selected research and industry cases, where VR or AR has been in focus as a scientific method, a research objective or experimental way of improving results.
