Organized by AU in collaboration with DIREC
With the rise of novel AR/VR/XR technologies, we are seeing new opportunities for experiencing completely new virtual worlds but also augmenting the real world with new capabilities. This development enables exciting new applications in, e.g., industrial design processes, remote collaboration, and psychology. However, there are still important unsolved challenges that underpin designing and creating XR experiences. We will have four leading experts from research and industry discussing the latest advances on topics such as:
      • Authoring: Who is creating the content in XR experiences and how is it created?
      • Interaction: With advanced tracking and sensing capabilities, how do people interact with virtual and augmented objects?
      • Perception: How can we use the manipulation of people’s perception for good?
      • Participation: How do we enable people to share XR experiences?
The session will consist of lightning talks followed by 20-30 minutes of panel discussion, where we will do more philosophical pondering on questions such as: How do we achieve standardization for the XR paradigm? What are the prospects and dangers of altering our reality? Are we going to have a Metaverse and will smartglasses replace our smartphones?
