    Bio: Maria Maistro is a tenure track assistant professor and Marie Curie Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen (DIKU). She received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Padua in 2018. She conducts research in information retrieval and recommender systems, and particularly on evaluation, reproducibility, and replicability, click log analysis, expert search, learning to rank and applied machine learning.

    Title of presentation: A Brief Introduction to Recommender Systems

    Abstract of presentation: This talk provides a high-level introduction to recommender systems. Two of the most used approaches, content-based and collaborative filtering, will be presented, as well as their advantages and limitations. Then some concrete examples of application domains and challenges will be showcased, in relation to ongoing research projects.
