Claus BrabrandHead of Center for Computing Education Research, ITU
Claus is an expert in University didactics; he frequently teaches teachers how to teach. He has designed the educational materials for ITU’s main initiatives aimed at recruiting a more diverse cohort of students. He is the (first) recipient of the Danish National Teaching Award (Undervisningsprisen 2020) given to only two Uni teachers in all of DK.

Increasing the diversity in IT education
Abstract of presentation:
First, we will consider why lack of diversity is a problem in IT education. Then, we will present research on how to change educational activities so that they appeal more to women and students without prior programming experience. Finally, we will show the effect of ITU’s onboarding initiative BootIT and how this connects with increasing diversity.
