    Martin Peter Christiansen is an experienced Researcher with a demonstrated history of working in with research both academia and industry. Currently he holds the position of Senior Technical Project Manager at R&AE Global Harvesting and Randers Engineering at AGCO Corporation. He has a strong research profile with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focused in Computer Engineering from Aarhus University.

    Abstract of presentation: 

    AGCO has been pioneering the digital transformation in the agricultural machinery domain. In this talk, I will cover research and development activities that intends to enable autonomy in combines and tractors.

      The continuous introduction of automation and information technologies in agriculture is expected to positively affect the food production by improving the efficiency, the quality and the sustainability of the whole process. In 2020, the global precision farming market was estimated to value USD 6 billion, and it is forecasted to grow at a CAGR of more than 10% for the next 10 years. Field robotics, aerial drones, digital twins and IoT will be key drivers of such growth and play a key role in the transformation of this industrial sector towards what many call Agriculture 4.0. This session presents the state-of-the-art within Danish academic research and industrial development, and shows the potential of autonomous systems technologies to boost the digital transformation of agriculture as well as the open challenges to be addressed.
