Marlog - the Maritime Cluster - is all about user involvement, research, collaboration and visions
Posted: 29 November 2021
In recent years, the maritime industry has undergone a rapid digital development. It is a time characterised by complexity and uncertainty. This will necessitate partnerships, trust, transparency and collaboration across the organisation. We have compiled the very best examples of user involvement, research, collaborations and visionary technology use and development at the maritime Stand in Øksnehallen on 30 November and 1 December.
We want to create a common space for dialogue in which people in the areas of funding, research, Smes, lighthouse companies and regulation are brought together with seafarers, Start-ups and students. The hope is that this space will generate internal understanding, as well as invite for a debate and provide solutions to some of the issues that we as a whole industry are facing in shipping.
As a cluster, MARLOG has a fundamental responsibility to create this space, and we are very much looking forward to doing this at the Digital Tech Summit 2021.
The programme offered by the maritime Stand
30 NOVEMBER 2021
11.00 Regulation as an innovative driving force? With Thomas Raislyng-MRA, Danish maritime Authority, Dan Compliance & DFDS
13.30 Digitisation of the ports: is there untapped potential? With Thomas Rose Slyng-MRA, Niels Gorm Rider-SDU, Eva Fiil-Danske & DFDS
1 DECEMBER 2021
13.00 User involvement and commitment: a conversation between users and developers With Bettina Skårup-AU, Mogens Glossy-DTU, DFDS & Users
15.00 Strategic Foresight: trendspotting & Scenario Planning-ENG With Matthew Spaniol-AU
At the stand, you will also be able to experience:
Is the reality of the future virtual? Come and hear about future research, digitisation, automation and the maritime competencies of the future from visionary companies, researchers, lecturers and students from the maritime degree programmes.
At the stand, we will visualise modern technologies within VR, AR and autonomy, and we hope that you will participate in the discussion on the use of modern technology in training and teaching in shipping.
A seamless collaboration?
It is crucial that the collaboration between people and machines (users and developers) takes place as smoothly as possible – but is this the case at sea? Drop by the maritime stand and talk to companies that develop technology for the industry, as well as the Anthropologes Pearl Møhl and Bettina Skårup, who have both conducted social-science studies of the interaction between people and technology in shipping.
Test and user involvement?
What is the value created by user involvement in the development of technology, and what are the barriers to testing things in shipping? In shipping, we are working under some special circumstances. It is difficult to plan the test, the ships are rarely in port, and the ship's design makes it complex to test and use. But how do we solve this knot?
Come by and take the discussion further at the Maritime Stand.
