Ambulance Alert is digitalizing the way we alert traffic participants of an approaching ambulance. Every ambulance driver is currently being slowed down by other traffic participants, which leads to a delayed response time in 10% of the cases. However, every minute can lower the survival rate by 10% in emergency situations. Thus, we wondered why we still solely rely on the siren and light to alert others of an approaching ambulance. Many industries are becoming digitalized, smart cities are gaining increasing interest and improving safety is a global trend. Therefore, we think it is time for a change! Our vision is to help ambulance drivers to reach their patients as fast and as safe as possible. We achieve this by alerting traffic participants well in advance of approaching ambulances and thereby, reducing the involved risks of harming others, unlike solely relying on the siren and light. Ambulance Alert offers an IoT solution that consists of a Smart Button for cyclists, an app add-on for navigation systems for car drivers, and a matching interface for ambulance organizations. It will solve the issue of traffic participants to pinpoint the direction the ambulance is coming from, help ambulance drivers to reach their patients faster and with fewer risks involved, as well as contribute to a safer smart city overall.
