• Doron Bar

    Chief Scientist, SCR

My main responsibility is to be the link between the cow, the farmer, the technology and the software. My background is that of a farmer and a veterinary surgeon. I graduated in 1983 from the University of Bern, Switzerland, and received my doctorate in veterinary medicine from the same university in 1986. I was a practicing bovine veterinarian for 20 years on large farms in the Jordan Valley of Israel and served for more than 10 years as a national and international consultant on production medicine and finally did my PhD at Cornell University (“The cost of mastitis in dairy cows”), graduating in 2007.

    • 10:00 - 10:45 Workshop: Reproduction, Dr. Doron Bar, SCR
In the first part of the workshop we will go over common fertility indices, discuss how they are calculated, their biological meanings and the various way we can influence them. The desired outcome is to be able to diagnose fertility problems from farm data and to suggest workable solutions.
      11:00 - 11:45 Workshop: Reproduction
In the second part we will work in groups on some real-life examples, discuss farm problems and suggest economic justified solutions.
    • 09:00 - 09:45 'Precision dairy farming' - how can the technical solutions be integrated within the vets advisery services in dairy herds on an operational level.
Modern dairy practitioners are required to diagnose also herd problems. The “symptoms” in these cases are farm own data gathered from various precision dairy farming implementations. These data can serve us as a powerful herd diagnostic tool, and can help us be better herd advisors.
11:45 - 12:30 RuminAct ® - how does the system work and how can it be useful in relation to health advice?
Operating in the dairy mainly as heat detection devices and finding cows that need attention, the RuminAct ® system (in its various forms) provides vets with valuable data to assist in the routine and advisory work.
